Educational Art Trunks

For your Art and Indian Education

These traveling trunks offer educators a special resource to provide their students with unique hands-on experiences that are easily incorporated into art and other curriculum. Our large teaching trunks are designed to accommodate the needs of one class or a team of teachers. Each trunk contains original and reproduction art, hands-on objects, artifacts, primary source documents, and lesson plans. The level of information in each trunk varies, but modifications can be made for grades K – 12.

Trunks are available for two weeks at a time, and are free to institutions with Education Memberships. The fee for non-member organizations in $25. From Plains to Plateau
Artistic Traditions of Northwest Montana Tribes
A perfect introduction to the artistry and culture of Montana’s Indian Tribes! Items in this trunk include both one and two piece moccasins, jewelry, a Blackfeet doll, games, parfleche, CDs, photographs, art prints, posters, raw material samples, and trunk guide filled with reference materials and art lessons.

Art of the Railways
S.T.E.A.M. Trunk
From fine art to advertising, this footlocker has a sampling of art inspired by the railways. This STEAM trunk includes lessons and reference materials that connect railway related art with the science of steam power, communication technologies, engineering, math concepts, art forms and artists, as well as wooden trains and tracks, telegraph set, games, engineer and conductor hats, pocket watches, books, and photographs.

Home on the Plains
Artistry of the Blackfeet and other Montana Tribes
The focus of this trunk is the culture and art associated with historical home life of the Plains Indian Tribes. Blackfeet tipi prints, a model lodge, envelope parfleche, games, books, art prints, paintings, and raw material samples fill this trunk. The accompanying trunk guide includes artist biographies, reference materials, and an assortment of art projects.
