About the Workshop:
Work in the medium of your choice while focusing on the primary components of successful plein air work. Refine skills in composition, defining color and value relevant to painting in nature, learn the value of doing quick compositional line drawings, Notans and thumbnail sketches outdoors as well as in-studio work. Kind critiques are part of the process, and you will learn how to evaluate your work objectively.
Saturdays’ concentration is on plein air technique, offering some basics in the plein air process and best practices to be successful while painting in nature. Time allowing, we will take our supplies out in the field for a short painting session focusing on shapes, composition, and afternoon light.
Sunday is dedicated to plein air work at a location that will provide the opportunity to paint a variety of subject matter – fields, roads, water.
Students are expected to provide their own materials- supply list available at glaciermuseum.org.
