Tabby Ivy is a tonalist painter working in the Flathead Valley. Damon Falke lives in northern Norway and writes prose and poetry that considers relationships between memory and the present, particularly as they are expressed through objects and landscapes. Tabby and Damon first connected on social media shortly before the pandemic and soon discovered “a common voice that spoke to us through our work”. In this collaborative exhibit, Ivy Falk uniquely express stories and emotions through both visual arts and the written word transcending distance, culture and time.

In additional to the upcoming exhibition Between Artists: Life in Paintings and Prose with Montana artist Tabby Ivy and Norway based writer Damon Falke, The Hockaday Museum of Art and Flathead Valley Community College Foundation join forces to offer a timely and unique cultural experience for the Northwest Montana community. On Saturday June 18, 2022, the FVCC drama department will present Falke’s play, The Scent of a Thousand Rains, a performance piece in verse for an actor and violinist, made possible through a generous grant from the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation. The play is adapted for stage and directed by Charles M. Pepiton, producing artistic director of Square Top Theatre, Spokane, Washington, and performed by Seattle veteran actor Ryan Childers, with music composed, arranged and performed by violinist Tana Bachman-Bland. The performance will be made available free to the public, however space is limited and reserved tickets are required.
